PIGEON FRIENDS

sharing a hobby in an

old-fashioned way

It is Saturday, October 22, 2016, the day we have been looking forward to and was already marked for months on our calendar as “The pigeon friends day”. We share our love for generally more difficult to breed pigeons and rare colours.

FORM YOUR BREEDING PENS NOW!

It is early February and it is really high time you put together the breeding pens, if you do not want to be too late for the shows of the new season. For the bantams you may wait a little, but for the large fowl you must get started as soon as possible. Actually, you should have already done this ...

FELÉGYHAZA TUMBLER

The Felégyhaza Tumbler is a breed that is becoming increasingly popular in the Netherlands. By now we have about 20 admirers and about 10 serious breeders of this pigeon in the Netherlands. Unfortunately, the Felégyhaza is not often seen at shows.

THE LIMOUSIN CHICKENS

We have found another special French breed, the Poule de Limousines, also called Coq de pêche. At first glance an ordinary land fowl, compact and sturdy. However, if we look closer at the rooster, the thin, long and abundant ornamental feathers immediately catch the eye.

An international

Owl Pigeon festival

in Belgium

The president of the European Frill Club was very pleased with this large number of Owl pigeons in 21 breeds and was rightly proud that 13 countries had participated in the show. As an indication of the international popularity and tradition of the Owl pigeons, at the grand awards ceremony and banquet on the Saturday it was said that fanciers from 17 countries participated in or visited the show.

THE SCANDAROON

as a source of inspiration

The Scandaroon in Fine Arts. The man gripped, so gripped by its beauty, that man cannot resist to capture it, immortalize, not let slip away the vision and forever lose it ; urging him to take a pen, paint-brush, pencil, clay....

CONCERNING POULTRY

interactions of chickens

with other species

Chickens can be kept with some animals but not others. If you are considering keeping rabbits, guinea fowl, turkeys, emus, sheep, goats, cows, or pigs with your chickens, the information that follows will help you make your decision.

CARNEAU-CLUB Français

The Carneau is part of the French heritage and over the years they managed to keep the body type almost constant at a weight between 600 and 675 grams, and at the same time have been able to maintain a beautiful colour in this utility pigeon, although the marking of rosettes and white lower back remains a challenge.

BREEDING LACED AND

PARTRIDGE WYANDOTTES

As long as Black laced silver Wyandottes are bred, it is already clear that one can actually breed the best results with double-mating. This is because there are some genetic contradictions in the marking of Silver Wyandotte roosters and hens, a fact which makes it almost impossible to breed them from one breeding pen.

NEW COLOURATIONS AND

BREEDS AT THE VDT-SHOW

2016

Despite the problems of the outbreak of bird flu, the VDT show in Erfurt was an outstanding exhibition. The exhibitors who applied the standardization of their specific colouration or breed in Germany have perhaps even pushed their thumbs stronger than others. 23 collections were announced.
