History of

TRIGANINO MODENESE

The Triganino Modenese  have been bred in the city of Modena since time immemorial. In recent centuries, until the early decades of the twentieth century, these domestic pigeons were trained and educated for a very curious and peculiar sport commonly called “the game of flying doves”.

POLANDS OR

CRESTED DUTCH

almost too nice to be true

The Crested Dutch is a very special breed. This breed has a so-called open skull, so they have an awesome, large crest. The colour contrast is huge, in particular the White Crested (WC) Blacks are a joy for spectators. This is also the most popular colour.

THE FEAST OF THE LIGHT

Christmas story

Santa ran his fingers through his beard; early December and everywhere it was already cold. This is how it should be in the Western Hemisphere, he thought. Snow and ice was everywhere; waterfowl had to travel more and more south to find open water.

This article is about very important archaeological finds of remarkably well-preserved pigeon figures. For one of the ancient figures, this is the first time it is introduced to the public all over the world.

MUSCOVY DUCK

COLOUR GENETICS

Because little information is available about the colours of the Muscovy duck and their combinations, either in Dutch literature or on the internet in general, I would like to elaborate on my own findings so far.

RECORD HOLDERS

AMONG THE

DOMESTIC FOWLS

Domestic fowl originate mainly from the Red Junglefowl. They were domesticated about 8000 years ago in Southeast Asia and have undergone a great metamorphosis ever since. Numerous breeds have been created, each with unique appearance, various productivity and purpose. This article will attempt to highlight the peculiar record holders in domestic birds.

BREEDING TIME

When the big shows are over, around late January - early February, it is high time to prepare the pigeons for the breeding season. As you know, there is a big difference between SHOW-condition and BREEDING-condition.

CAMPINES,

AN OLD BELGIAN

BREED REINSTATED

There are more myths about the origins of one breed than there are breeds. Many chicken breeds are the result of an ancient selection process where usefulness prevailed over looks.

THE BARBU DE

WATERMAEL

Their History in Australia

The Barbu de Watermael only exists in Australia in very limited numbers. Even today, with a great deal more interest in these lovely little birds, the numbers are perilously low. Breeders are trying increase both the quality and quantity, and with careful selection of breeding birds and rigorous culling, the Barbu de Watermael can only improve during the coming years.
