THE MORAVIAN STRASSER AND PRACHEN KANIK
These two varieties are both catered for by one specialty
club in Germany. This is practical as the country of origin of these breeds
is the former Czechoslovakia and the colour
and marking have very much in common, also they are both classified in the
form / utility pigeon Group.

THEORY AND PRACTICE
in the creation of the blue
salmon colour
in Wyandotte
bantams
Blue is one of the most difficult
colours for breeding and anyone who has been engaged in exhibition poultry
knows what a challenge it is. On the other hand the combination of salmon
colour with dilution Bl gene gives us a very beautiful combination ... a
real feast for the eyes.

THE GELDERSE SLENKE
Elucidation on the Standard
(part I)
Although the Gelderse Slenke already in 1899 was shown – together with the Groningen
Slenke - at an exhibition in Nijmegen and in
the twenties at the National Avicultura Show,
there has never been a written Gelderse Slenke standard, as far as we know. 2010 was a historic year with the recognition
of the Gelderse Slenke.

DARWIN’S EXPERIMENT
Charles Darwin (1809-1882) was the scientist who
practically proved that all domestic pigeons began from the Rock Dove
(Columba livia). He cleared up the path, several
thousand years long on which man selected today’s pigeon breeds from the
Rock Dove.

VISITING
RICHARD VAN DER WESTEN
IN MADE (NL)
At the Champion Show, in January 2014, I met with
Richard van der Westen.
This young man of 21 years is from the village of Made (NL). He stood by his
own large information desk with transport containers. Beautiful wooden
boxes in all sizes and types. You could instantly see that this concept of
transport containers was carefully designed.
