RAFAEL BUCH BRAGE

the unsurpassed master

of the Iberian pigeon breeds

Buch Brage is a man who is respected at home and abroad for his unprecedented knowledge. His great knowledge does not originate exclusively from the practice of the actual breeding of pigeons, but also results from the fact that he has written a great deal about pigeons as a major expert.

40 YEARS IN THE FANCY

Co Tersteeg and

Dirk de Jong

40 years in the Fancy? I can hear you think… "This will probably be an annoying story about two easy-going, know-all old men." Well, do read on. Easy-going? Both men are still full of the joys of life. Old? Age is only a number. And know-alls? Yes, I dare say; as it concerns our hobby, these two are truly all-knowing ~ in a good way!

SUPERNUMERARIES

Speaking about supernumeraries we often get from breeders the opinion that racing homer pigeons with 11 primaries or more have advantages in the competition against those with 10 primaries (wild-type) only. About the genetics of the phenolmenon there was long speculation only.

CONCERNING POULTRY

~ Why have my hens stopped laying? ~

Hens will lay fewer eggs each year. So one of the first factors to consider when your hens stop laying is the age of the flock. However, numerous factors may adversely affect egg production in chicken flocks.

OPENING

CHAMPION SHOW 2017

For a long time it seemed the ban would be lifted in time and we could also welcome chickens and waterfowl at this show. We kept our hopes high till the very last moment, but unfortunately, it was not allowed. What a pity that the poultry could not be here! How we have missed the crowing and clucking of the chickens on so many shows!

BALKAN LONGCROWING

CHICKEN BREEDS

More than one thousand chicken breeds are nowadays known worldwide, belonging to larger or smaller groups (egg-laying, meat-type, dual purpose, fighting, true bantams, miniature breeds etc.). One of the smallest groups is that of the ‘longcrowing’ chicken breeds.

4th NATIONAL SHOW IN

YOUSSOUFIA, MOROCCO

It was a very great surprise and honour to be asked to judge some breeds at the Youssoufia Pigeon Club of Morocco national show. The show was held in a large tented area with carpets on the floor and the new cages were all superb.

THE BELGIAN

BANTAM FESTIVAL

You read it well, a festival, not just a show, but a real party! A party for the participants, the breeders, the judges, the chicken lovers and the visitors. For anyone interested in chickens and most specifically in bantams, with or without beards and foot feathers, will enjoy a lot of beauty at “The Belgian Bantam Festival”.

CROPPERS AT THE

4th AL NAWADER GOLD SHOW

IN OMAN

Once again I was invited to judge the Reversewing Croppers and Pomeranian Pouters at the Gold Show in Oman. We were met at the airport by Jabr Alrawahi, who was the cheeriest person we've met for ages! He kept us laughing all the way to the Gulf College.
