A VISITE AT Wim te Brake in Aalten In 1960 the Dutch Croppers came in his loft and
until today, the Tiger Dutch Cropper is his specialty. Since the last years
he also has Red and Yellow Tiger Dutch Croppers, but showing these pigeons
always is a gamble. Not every judge knows how to evaluate these difficult and
thus rare varieties. By :

BLUEBEARD a rescue goose Established for over 20 years, Tinkers Hill Bird of
Prey and Swan Rescue Centre in Pembrokeshire,
Wales, has been actively engaged in rescuing, rehabilitating and
whenever possible releasing wildlife. Although the Trust specialises in Swans and Birds of Prey, equal care is
given to any bird that has been injured, orphaned, or is a victim of the
all too frequent pollution around our coasts. By : Denise

International Structure AND Trumpeter Pigeon Show 2009 After several years of silence it happened again
in November 2009 : in the third weekend of this month, housed at the IJsselshow, the International Structure and Trumpeter
Pigeon Show (ISS) took place. We were anxious to find out whether the
event was still in request with the fanciers, especially the fanciers
from abroad. By : Roy Arbeider 13 pages - 970 kB |

CHICKEN RUN Visiting fanciers during the Show season guarantees
photos of perfect mature chickens, but for me, visiting fanciers in spring
is more fun, such as on this beautiful day in May. The landscape had turned
to every sort of green, the sun was shining and there are sure to be chicks

THE DUTCH CROPPER The Dutch Cropper is the oldest and largest National
fancy pigeon breed in the Netherlands, which was already here in the 16e century.
They have a large body, lively and display natural confidence. The Specialty
Club in the Netherlands describes the characteristics of the breed as
follows: The Dutch Cropper is a calm, quiet and friendly pigeon. It is one
of the biggest blower Croppers. By : Nico van Benten 7 pages - 415 kB |

AUTO-SEXING GEESE, now being recognized from Shetland to Australia Telling domestic ducks from drakes is easy, but
when it comes to goose and gander there are few obvious clues. Of course,
the birds always know, and to experienced keepers it’s usually obvious
too. But there has long been a fascination with auto-sexing goose breeds
where the plumage color is the instant giveaway. By : Chris

CONCERNING POULTRY - FEATHERS - As anyone who has ever stepped into the poultry pavilion
at any country show or fair will tell you, not all chickens look the same.
And the most noticeable differences lie in the plumage... that is, the
feathers. Not just in the different colors and patterns either. There are
other, more structural differrences. Now you
might think that a feather is a feather, but when it comes to chickens
this just isn't so! By : Greg

COLUMBA VALENTINA - The pigeon of Valenza - In the popular tradition of an old story, the merit
of the new and current urban nucleus of Valenza
is attributed to St. Massimo - St. Maximus - who
would have persuaded the inhabitants to gather there where a dove, purposely
freed, had settled. By : Elio Corti (Italy) 3 pages - 1,7 MB |
